Originally by: Amaroq Dricaldari According to CCP, a single ISK is the equivalent of at least a billion U.S. Dollars.
That's an Inter-Stellar Kredit ISK, not an Iceland kronur ISK _

Originally by: Sidus Isaacs I would buy some islands, build up its infrastructure and agriculture, invite folks tht are not stupid, and declare independance. Make a country that is based on reason and logic, not superstition or other silly political stuff.
Thought about it for a bit, then decided against it for a variety of reasons. For starters, as weird as it sounds, that's not enough money to pull that off. Second, prosperous areas attract "undesirables" like you would not believe it, and being too isolationistic isn't good either. And each of us has his own idiosyncrasies in both body and mind, even if repressed rationally, so while at some advantage, it still wouldn't be quite what you imagined - you'd need a population grown from scratch educated only on carefully selected materials by people who are extremely careful not to introduce any noxious memes, and even that's not guaranteed to get you what you want, especially once you drop the isolation part and expose them to the world of chaotic information out there.
Quote: And I guess use some of it to prolong my life as long as possible so that I might eventually live forever, or at least longe nough to be able to explore space.
End goal would be nanotech, sure, but meanwhile, improving regular medical technology might be quite nice. Still, again, even that amount of money probably won't be nearly enough to radically hasten breakthroughs. It will help a lot, sure, but whether it's enough for people our age to actually still be alive by the time you could become theoretically immortal (if that will even ever happen), somewhat doubtful. _

Originally by: Amaroq Dricaldari Please note my correction in my post. I am now using the EVE-Online version of ISK. A single ISK in EVE is worth at least a billion U.S. Dollars in real-life.
So then, why the bloody hell bring ISK into this at all in the first place ? Why not just say "if you had a trillion of billions of dollars" ? Or better yet "if you could pay for anything you wanted to do" // "if you had access to unlimited funding" ? You know, since the amount of money you imply doesn't even exist, and even if it did, it would not have the same value as that amount of current-day cash thanks to inflation and a host of other problems associated with that. Also, are we talking the actual, current real world or some crazy alternate reality or fantasy/future version ? _

Originally by: Amaroq Dricaldari *Sigh* I clearely stated that it would use the EVE Online version of ISK, not the Real-Life Iceland Version of ISK I also mentioned that on this thread, there is no such thing as inflation
Yeah, you did so, EVENTUALLY.
What's the point of a limited amount of funding if that limit is a bajilion quintillion dollars, basically enough to pay everybody in the entire world more than handsomely to work for you on whatever the hell you want for the rest of your natural life and then some ?
Also, you provided no reason as to why you even had to bring a fictional currency into a real-world hypothetical situation. WHY not simply give a realistic (even if very big) sum, and express it in a real-life currency instead ? It's not like you don't know where the edit button is, you've used it quite a few times already, what about doing it right this time ?
Oh, and counting down to the moment the OP will request this thread of his to also be locked. Since, apparently, whenever something doesn't go quite as how he expected, instead of correcting his views to account for the criticism, he goes all huffy and puffy and blows his own house down rather than remodel it. _
